Hedgehog Awareness Week 🦔 Celebrating 28 Years of Northumbrian Hedgehog Rescue 💚

This year marks 28 years since Carole opened her home — and her heart — to the first injured hedgehog who needed help. What began as one small act of kindness has grown into a rescue that has supported thousands of poorly, orphaned and overwintering hedgehogs across Northumberland.

For nearly three decades, Carole’s dedication has never wavered. From late‑night feeds and emergency admissions to educating the community and championing hedgehog welfare, she has poured love, time and determination into giving these little ones a second chance.

To everyone who has volunteered, donated, shared our posts, knitted cosy blankets, built hedgehog houses, or simply cared enough to stop and help a hedgehog in trouble — thank you. You are part of this story too.

Here’s to Carole, to our amazing volunteers and supporters, and to every hedgehog who has passed through our doors.

28 years of kindness… and still going strong. 💚🦔
